Yokoso! The University of Edinburgh Japanese Society aims to get together people interested in Japanese culture to have fun! You don't have to be Japanese or a student, we welcome everyone!
We have social meetings every Thursday evening during term-time. We also often hold special events‚ see the relevant section on this website. Members get discounts on our events and at Japanese restaurants Bonsai and Koi. Membership costs £3/£6 (students/others) for the academic year.

We meet at a pub every Thursday. Everyone is welcome regardless of society membership, previous contact, your degree/occupation, whatever. The socials will resume in Fresher's Week 2008 for the new 2008/09 academic term.

Immerse yourself in a morning of Japanese culture...hear the story of
origami peace cranes before making your own crane which will be sent to
Hiroshima Peace Park. Then watch a mesmerising performance of Tea Ceremony, followed by a demonstration of the wrapping and folding of silk to create a ceremonial kimono outfit. £8.50 (£7.50)
Stall selling Japanese crafts, silk scarves, art work etc will be in the
reception area until late each day (free entry).
