Immerse yourself in a morning of Japanese culture...hear the story of
origami peace cranes before making your own crane which will be sent to
Hiroshima Peace Park. Then watch a mesmerising performance of Tea Ceremony, followed by a demonstration of the wrapping and folding of silk to create a ceremonial kimono outfit. £8.50 (£7.50)
Stall selling Japanese crafts, silk scarves, art work etc will be in the
reception area until late each day (free entry).

On the island of Gigha these two workshops are a retreat for the heart & mind.
A technique stemming from ancient asian history, brush painting is an art of economy and suggestion.
Using mainly black ink (sumi) we will be learning & practicing to capture the essence of the life being depicted, whilst exploring the beautiful Achamore gardens & the scenery of the island.
Talia Lehavi is a professional artist who has been practicing & teaching the art of brush painting for over 20 years.

This year again, the Hanami party is on at the Meadows at an even bigger scale.
Coinciding with each other the Japanese Society and 3 other Edinburgh-based Japanese related groups are having Hanami party at Meadows on 26th of April. You are welcome to join us through any part of the afternoon, and please feel free to bring food, drink, and/or whatever appropriate for a party under the blossoming cherry trees.
Us and another group has postponed the event as there were no flower in Meadows. As finally the Meadows turned into pink again, the new date was set: May 10th. The other group having Hanami with us is:
